In 1946, Kurt and Anny Landsberger founded Bel-Art, where they made and sold tablecloths and household aprons. After discovering the material they used was chemically resistant, they began marketing to laboratories and medical supply houses.
With the massive success of their chemically resistant aprons, Bel-Art pioneered the use of plastic equipment and consumables in the laboratory.
A Legacy of Innovation, Now Global
In 2014, Bel-Art joined the SP family of brands, with SP later becoming a part of the ATS Life Sciences division.
Today, SP Bel-Art has over 2,700 products, ranging from lab consumables to benchtop lab equipment, and prides itself on manufacturing over 80% of its products in the USA. It is a renowned world leader in stir bar technology, sterile sampling, and desiccation.
