Dear Lab Guy,
We have a Scienceware sidentry clamping ring glove box (H500260000).
Can we pull a vacuum in that glove box? We have a customer that needs an anaerobic environment to work in.
Derek D.
Hi Derek!
Lab Guy here!
I’m glad you asked this. Glove Boxes like our SidENTRY Glove box should NEVER have a vacuum drawn within them as the rectangular cabinet style of the sidENTRY Glove Box would crush inward with negative vacuum pressure.
That said, the experiment may be able to utilize a Gas-Purge environment- replacing the atmospheric gas with an inert gas of choice. Since gas-purging does not create internal pressure (positive or negative), your glove box will be safe from implosion and inward crushing.
Thanks for writing to Lab Guy, and please feel free to write back if I can help in any other way…
Yours in Science,
Lab Guy
